Kyiv Heating Season Comes to a Close

According to Novyny.live: Starting March 24, Kyiv will officially wrap up its heating season. The decision comes as air temperatures in the capital continue to rise. Over the coming days, heat will be shut off in residential buildings—a move aimed at conserving energy and helping the city adjust to the changing weather.

Heat Shutdown for Social Facilities

Social infrastructure sites, including hospitals and schools, will have their heating turned off on a case-by-case basis, following formal requests from their administrators. This flexible approach allows city officials to tailor heat management to the specific needs of each institution.

The government maintains that Kyiv’s energy system remains under control. Meanwhile, fuel prices in the capital jumped over the weekend of March 21–22, with diesel seeing the steepest increase—reaching 90 hryvnias per liter. These fluctuations in fuel costs could have broader economic implications for the city.

A plenary session of the Kyiv City Council is scheduled for March 26, where topics related to the heating season and other pressing urban issues are expected to be discussed.

Ending the heating season marks a key step in Kyiv’s transition to spring weather. This decision, combined with rising fuel prices, highlights the challenging economic conditions that may require attention from local authorities. The March 26 plenary session could serve as a platform to address not only heating-related matters but also other critical factors shaping life in the capital.
