Kyiv's Power Grid Recovery: Over 255 Crews Deployed with Bonus Pay.
Power Restoration Efforts Underway in Kyiv
According to Novyny.live: At a February 6th meeting of the Emergency Response Headquarters, officials focused on restoring electricity and heating to Kyiv. More than 255 repair crews are now engaged in this critical work, actively repairing damage to the energy infrastructure caused by Russian attacks. These strikes are part of a wider campaign targeting Ukraine's civilian power grid, creating severe hardship during winter.
To support these essential workers, each member of the emergency repair teams will receive a bonus payment of 20,000 hryvnias for January, February, and March. This financial incentive aims to bolster the personnel striving to bring light and heat back to the capital.
“Everyone who is today eliminating the consequences of Russian attacks on our energy sector will receive 20,000 hryvnias in January, February, and March,” stated Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
State and International Partner Support
To aid the recovery, companies have already received over 173 tons of energy equipment. Furthermore, 22 out of 48 powerful generators recently provided to Ukraine by Lithuania are expected to arrive in Kyiv shortly.
“We expect 22 powerful generators out of the 48 that Lithuania recently transferred to Ukraine to arrive in Kyiv as early as tomorrow,” added Shmyhal, highlighting the importance of international support in this crisis.
Restoring Kyiv's power supply is vital for the city's basic functioning, especially amid winter conditions. The allocation of extra resources and financial support for the repair crews underscores the state's efforts to combat the energy crisis. International aid, such as the generators from Lithuania, plays a crucial role in accelerating the repair of energy infrastructure, which is essential for providing stable power to the capital's residents.
