Kyiv Metro Reroutes: 'Odeska' Station to Replace 'Teremky' as New Terminus.
New Metro Stations Under Development in Kyiv
According to Novyny.live: Plans are underway to construct a station called 'Odeska' on the Obolonsko–Teremkivska line, which will take the place of the existing 'Teremky' station. The new 'Odeska' stop will be situated along the Kyiv–Odesa highway, right at the boundary between Kyiv and the surrounding region. According to current information, as of 2026, the existing endpoint 'Teremky' will continue to serve as the last stop on the southern stretch of the blue metro line.
Meanwhile, work continues on the 'Mostytska' station. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has stated that this station is expected to open later this year. By March 2026, the right-hand tunnel connecting 'Mostytska' to 'Syrets' had already been completed, highlighting ongoing progress in the capital’s metro infrastructure expansion.
Why Expanding the Metro Matters
The construction of 'Odeska' and the upcoming launch of 'Mostytska' represent critical milestones in broadening the city’s subway network. These projects aim to improve transit access and enhance convenience for residents of Kyiv and its neighboring areas.
Expanding the metro system is a key driver in upgrading the capital’s transportation infrastructure, which can boost urban mobility and help reduce road congestion. In particular, the new stations will make it easier for people living in outlying districts to get around, potentially spurring economic growth in those communities. These initiatives are part of a broader local government strategy to modernize city infrastructure and address pressing mobility needs.
