The Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC has been recognized as affiliated with the Russian Church.
According to inkorr.com: The Ukrainian Orthodox Church has been penalized due to its ties with the Russian Orthodox Church. The State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience recorded signs of cooperation between the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC and the ROC, which is a violation of Ukrainian legislation. As a result, the UOC received an order to sever ties with the ROC, but its head refused to comply with this decision.
Refusal to comply with the order
“The research revealed signs of affiliation of the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC with the ROC, which is a violation of Ukrainian law. Consequently, the SESC sent the UOC KM an order to eliminate the violation of the Law,” the report states.
The refusal to comply with the order has led to the recognition of the UOC as affiliated with a foreign religious organization whose activities are prohibited in Ukraine. This situation highlights the tense relations between the religious institutions of Ukraine and Russia.
In the context of these events, it is worth noting that such actions are part of a broader state policy aimed at strengthening national identity and ensuring religious independence. The UOC's response may indicate the potential for further conflicts in the religious sphere, which could affect the socio-political situation in the country.
