Fedorov: elections through Diia are not being prepared, no work in this direction is underway.
According to ТСН: Currently, the holding of presidential elections or others through the "Diia" application is not planned. No practical or technical projects are being implemented in this direction.
This information was voiced by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov during a live broadcast on TikTok.
According to the official, the introduction of online voting is a complex issue not only from a technical but also from a legal point of view. To implement this format, several stages must be passed, including the adoption of the necessary changes to legislation in the Verkhovna Rada and obtaining an official definition from the Central Election Commission regarding the implementation procedure. Only after this can the "Diia" team start its work.
"At this moment, apart from online discussions, no work is being done in this direction. Neither the Ministry of Digitalization nor the application team is working on implementing such a tool," Fedorov emphasized.
Context:
Previously, President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the issue of holding elections or referendums on sensitive topics should consider security.
The head of the "Opora" network, Olha Aivazovska, emphasized that online voting proposed by Davyd Arakhamia could pose security risks.
People's Deputy Fedir Venislavskyi added that organizing presidential elections during the war is currently impossible due to security and organizational challenges.
In a situation like the current one, it is important to consider the risks associated with the implementation of new technologies, especially in the context of the electoral process. The government must find a balance between innovations and security to ensure elections in accordance with all necessary standards.
