Ukraine Eases Curfew Rules for Travel to Heating Points.
New Curfew Exemptions for Reaching Heating Shelters
According to Novyny.live: In response to the ongoing energy crisis, Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs has announced new exemptions to the nationwide curfew. Citizens are now permitted to travel freely to designated heating points during curfew hours without requiring special passes. Both pedestrian and vehicle routes may be used to reach these shelters, a crucial adjustment as winter temperatures plummet.
Despite this relaxation for movement, individuals out during the curfew must still carry identification documents for verification. The required documents include:
- passport
- military ID
This requirement remains a key condition for maintaining security and control under the state of emergency. The decision to impose the curfew is made by the Defense Council, military command, and special services.
Taxi Services and Heating Access
Furthermore, in Kyiv, taxi services have received permission from city authorities to resume 24/7 operations. This will allow residents of the capital to reach heating shelters more conveniently, especially during periods of severe cold. These new measures are designed to facilitate access to warmth in difficult weather conditions and enhance public safety.
These changes to movement rules during curfew are vital given the ongoing energy crisis in Ukraine. - Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine
Given the low temperatures and associated health risks, the goal of ensuring unimpeded access to heating points is to reduce dangers to the population. The reinstatement of round-the-clock taxi service in Kyiv also reflects the authorities' aim to provide comfort and security for the city's residents during challenging weather.
