Housing Allowance for Ukrainian Military Personnel: Payment Amounts Explained
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel serving under contract are eligible for a housing allowance to cover rental costs. This program is a key part of the state's support for service members and their families during the ongoing conflict. The allowance amount is determined by the location of the rental property and the number of family members, helping to secure adequate living conditions while on active duty.
Allowance Amounts
Service members can receive compensation for renting private accommodation. In Kyiv, the allowance is set at two times the subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons, which amounts to 6,656 UAH for 2026. In regional centers, the compensation is 4,992 UAH, while in other localities it decreases to 3,328 UAH. Importantly, if a service member's family consists of three or more people, the allowance increases by 50%, providing better support for larger households.
The application process begins with the service member submitting a formal report requesting the rental payment. This report must be accompanied by the necessary documents from both the applicant and their family members. Additionally, an extract or certificate from the Bureau of Technical Inventory (BTI) regarding property owned by the service member or their family must be provided.
During the review, the relevant authorities check the real estate rights registry to confirm whether the service member or their family already owns property. A housing commission also inspects the servicemember's living conditions and prepares a report for the unit commander.
This system provides substantial support through housing compensation, which is a crucial measure in meeting the needs of personnel during their service. Ensuring decent housing is vital not only for morale but also for the stability and effectiveness of military operations.
