Utility Subsidies: When Ukrainians Will Have to Return Money Received from the State.
Utility subsidies are an important tool for supporting vulnerable groups in Ukraine. Losing the right to subsidies can significantly impact the recipient's budget and may also lead to the requirement to return funds already received.
The Pension Fund of Ukraine explained why some Ukrainians are obliged to reimburse the state for the aid received in the form of subsidies.
What Circumstances Can Affect the Right to Subsidies
Often, utility subsidies may be deemed excessive and require reimbursement to the budget in certain situations. Sometimes, financial assistance may continue to be accrued after the loss of the right to receive it, which is referred to as 'overpayment of utility subsidies'.
According to Resolution No. 373, subsidies can be lost if there is a change in the recipient's category, family composition, conditions for the provision of utility services, or service providers.
When Will It Be Necessary to Return Funds
If the right to subsidies is lost, payments are terminated. If a citizen does not report changes and continues to receive funds, the overpaid amounts will need to be reimbursed; otherwise, there will be a claim through the court.
It is important to contact the Pension Fund when changing the family composition or financial situation if the household wants to reduce expenses on utility payments.
Utility subsidies may be lost due to changes in living conditions or family composition. Citizens must be attentive and timely notify the relevant authorities about any changes in their lives to avoid troubles with recalculation or refund of subsidies.
