According to Novyny.live: Soldiers who signed a contract during martial law are eligible to leave the service once that contract period ends, regardless of their rank. However, it’s important to note that even after discharge, former service members can still be called up for mobilization. As lawyer Vladyslav Deriy explained, personnel must submit a resignation report at least three months before the contract’s expiration date.

Under current legislation, military personnel can be released from duty after their contract term concludes. Yuriy Ayvazyan confirms that

“the discharge of service members from military duty is carried out due to the end of service term when the contract signed during martial law expires.”

Age Limits and Registration After Discharge

It is also crucial to consider that there is a maximum age for discharge during a special period. For enlisted personnel, sergeants, warrant officers, and junior officers, this age is 60; for senior officers, it is 65. This restriction helps maintain oversight of military resources while martial law is in effect.

Additionally, Vladyslav Deriy pointed out that after leaving the service, former soldiers must report to the territorial center for recruitment and social support (TCC) and register as liable for military service within five days. This step is essential because it allows the state to keep track of potential mobilization candidates.
