Russian Counterattack in Kursk Region: Details from British Intelligence.
Russian forces launched offensive actions in Kursk region
Russian military began offensive actions in the Kursk region and likely recaptured several villages that were under the control of the AFU. This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defence.
«In Russia's Kursk region, where since mid-August 2024 Ukraine controls approximately 800-900 square km of territory, Russian forces have begun a counteroffensive. Led by airborne and marine units, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions on the western salient and likely recaptured several villages», – the report says.
Recall, during the Kursk operation, which the Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting on the territory of the aggressor state, Ukrainian units captured two more settlements.
On September 14, it was also reported that Ukrainian forces successfully broke through the Russian defenses on another section of the border in the Kursk region and penetrated several kilometers deep into Russian territory.
According to President Zelensky, Ukraine anticipated Russian actions in the Kursk region. «The Russians started counteroffensive actions. This is going according to our Ukrainian plan», he says.
For reference, the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin ordered the expulsion of the Ukrainian army from the Kursk region of the Russian Federation by October 1.
However, DeepState analysts note that the situation on the left flank of the AFU in the Kursk region has worsened. Russian forces have started active assault actions in the Kursk region, first crossing the Seim River with armored vehicles, and then smaller rivers.
