According to ТСН: The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, expressed his opposition to granting a loan of 90 billion euros to Ukraine at the EU summit. He stated that Budapest does not want to be involved in this issue.

"Hungary is completely detached from this," he said.

Orban characterized the EU loan for Ukraine as "extremely bad decision" and "lost money," claiming that "Ukrainians will never pay back" these funds. He also added that "European countries will bear financial consequences" because of this.

Attitude towards the war

"Everyone else, except the Czechs and the Slovaks, thinks that this was a good decision. I believe this was an extremely bad decision that brings Europe closer to war. Three countries decided not to participate in this—this is the refusal of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. So we are innocent," Orban added.

Protest against funding

He also opposed the idea of using frozen Russian assets to finance Ukraine, considering this proposal

"stupid"
and one that is
"equivalent to entering the war"
.

Before the summit, Orban promised to bring 1.6 million "papers" regarding Ukraine—surveys from an anti-Ukrainian "referendum," in which Hungarians allegedly did not support the idea of helping the neighboring state.

This position of Hungary emphasizes the complexity of the situation in the EU, where countries have differing opinions on supporting Ukraine in wartime. It is important to understand how such statements affect the broader political landscape in Europe and relations between the member states of the Union.
