UK Foreign Secretary comments on permission to strike Russia using Storm Shadow

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy called on Ukraine's allies to show "courage and determination" regarding the use of Storm Shadow missiles on Russian territory.

According to Lammy, delicate negotiations are currently underway with the White House about the possibility of Ukraine using these missiles on Russian territory. He emphasized that this is a critical Time for Ukraine's allies, especially in view of a possible escalation of the war at the end of 2025 - the beginning of 2026.

"This is a critical time for nerves, courage, patience, and resilience from the allies who support Ukraine," Lammy said at an event during the Labour Party conference in Liverpool.

The minister noted that Ukraine and its Western allies are discussing "what else might be needed" to help Kyiv on the battlefield, apart from efforts to hold the frontline, which is currently under acute pressure in the east.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has again appealed to US President Joe Biden to allow Ukraine to carry out long-range strikes on Russian territory. This issue remains unresolved despite Biden's personal lobbying by Labour leader Keir Starmer nine days ago.

Zelensky wants the ability to use British, French, and Italian Storm Shadow missiles, as well as US ATACMS, for strikes on airbases and other military targets on Russian territory. He argues that the Kremlin might be motivated to seek peace if it becomes clear that Ukraine can strike targets closer to Moscow.

Recall, Zelensky unveiled the main 2 points of the "victory plan" for Ukraine.
