In Nikopol, a family quarrel escalated into a murder with an axe: a 21-year-old stepson detained.

According to ТСН: In the Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk region, a conflict between a stepfather and stepson ended in tragedy. The 21-year-old young man initially struck the man and then used an axe to commit murder.

According to the police of Dnipropetrovsk region, the incident took place in one of the villages of the Chervonohryhorivka territorial community. On January 2, around 22:00, a verbal dispute arose in a private house between the young man and his stepfather, which escalated into a fight and ended with the older man's death.

Investigation and Arrest

An operational investigative group from the Nikopol district police arrived promptly at the scene. Law enforcement officers quickly established the identity of the person involved in the crime - the 21-year-old son of the owner of the house where the incident occurred.

After committing the crime, the suspect left the scene and tried to hide. However, a few hours later, criminal police officers found him.

According to the investigation, during the conflict,

the man struck the victim several times in the head and torso, and when he fell, he used the axe.

The murder weapon was seized and sent for examination. The offender was detained, and on January 3, investigators announced his suspicion of intentional murder. The court imposed a preventive measure of detention on the suspect. He faces up to 15 years in prison for his actions. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

It is also worth noting that in Poltava region, police detained a 44-year-old man on suspicion of murdering his own father. During another conflict on January 1, he inflicted fatal injuries on a 69-year-old man. In the same house, law enforcement discovered the body of the deceased's partner with no signs of violence, whose likely cause of death was hypothermia.

These tragic events indicate serious social issues that accompany violence in families. The police continue to work on such cases to ensure the safety of citizens and prevent similar incidents in the future.
