At a Heritage Auctions auction in the USA, the iconic whip used by Harrison Ford in the film 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' was sold. The lot went under the hammer for 525 thousand dollars, reports Euronews Culture.
This prop has not only a cinematic but also a royal history. After the film's premiere in the UK in 1989, Ford personally handed the whip to then-Prince Charles. It was later passed on to Princess Diana, who gifted it to its current - anonymous - owner.'The whip is an iconic symbol of the cult character of cinema history, Indiana Jones, and has become the highlight of this auction,' said executive vice president of the auction house Joe Maddalena. The total amount of bids at the Heritage Auctions auction exceeded all expectations, making this event the second most successful in the company's history. Among other lots that went under the hammer were the 'Rosebud' sled from the film 'Citizen Kane,' a copy of which was sold for 14.75 million dollars. Also, well-known movie treasures such as Kevin's knitted hat from 'Home Alone' and prop swords from 'Kill Bill' will soon be up for auction.
