Lithuania strengthens control over Russian transit: what has changed.
According to inkorr.com: Minister of the Interior of Lithuania Vladislav Kondratovich has decided on a new order for controlling citizens of the Russian Federation traveling in transit through Lithuania to the Kaliningrad region.
Joint control and coordination
According to information from the ELTA agency, the State Border Guard Service, the Police of Lithuania, and the Public Security Service will now jointly coordinate oversight of transit and respond to possible incidents. This new control order will ensure improved information exchange between agencies and organize joint training for coordinated actions.
“Any incident related to the Kaliningrad transit will be a priority for service response. Our goal is a prompt response to any violations or suspicious situations,” said Kondratovich.
Plans for border and security
Lithuania also intends to change its border with Russia and Belarus in response to statements from Poland. It is noted that Lithuania has already purchased and installed anti-tank obstacles and 'dragon's teeth' on the border with Russia and Belarus.
Potential conflict and tension in the region
Earlier, there was information that Russia could occupy Latvia and part of Lithuania in ten days. The Center for New Generation Warfare conducted a simulation of a possible Russian attack on NATO's eastern flank in 2027.
These changes in control over Russian transit through Lithuania indicate rising tensions in the region and concerns about potential conflicts. The decree emphasizes the importance of preparing for potential threats and strengthening security in the country. Given the situation, Lithuania focuses on the necessity of joint actions and readiness for challenges that may arise.
