During the war, 3767 Ukrainian defenders were released from Russian captivity, including 168 civilians. This was made possible through the joint efforts of the Coordination Headquarters and other authorities. However, tens of thousands of Ukrainians continue to remain in captivity in Russia. According to the ombudsman, on September 12, Russians shelled a convoy of the International Committee of the Red Cross, resulting in the death of three Ukrainians. Furthermore, the Russian troops committed a war crime by shooting Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Kursk region of Russia and in Donetsk. Through the efforts of the Coordination Headquarters, another 95 Ukrainian defenders were released on October 19.
