More than a thousand Ukrainian children have been returned from Russia to Ukraine

The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, reported that as of today, 1029 Ukrainian children have been returned from Russia to Ukraine. In a telethon, he noted that Qatar is the main mediator in this matter.

The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada added that the main problem in returning children is verification, as the Russian Federation does not provide information about them, but Ukraine is using 'all levers' to obtain it. In particular, international partners are providing assistance in returning the children.

'They (international partners - Glavkom) conduct their communication with the Russian side. And then we work out the logistical routes for how we return our children,' he said.

The Ombudsperson emphasized that the number of returned children is currently small compared to how many Russians have deported. According to Lubinets, separate negotiations are held for each child.

The USA introduced visa restrictions for Russian officials

We remind you that the US State Department has imposed visa restrictions on five Russian officials involved in the forced deportation and imprisonment of Ukrainian children. This was reported on the official website of the American agency.

The US State Department confirmed that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, thousands of Ukrainian children have been illegally taken out, making their deportation 'systematic' and 'intentional'. Moreover, many children have had their identities changed and their origins hidden. They have also been subjected to pro-Russian propaganda and militarization or were adopted by Russian families.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the occupiers have forcibly transferred at least 314 Ukrainian children to Russian families: 67 of them were made citizens of the Russian Federation. This is stated in the report of the Humanitarian Research Laboratory of Yale University 'The Russian Systematic Program of Forced Adoption and Guardianship of Ukrainian Children', reported by Zmina.
