Loved Mariupol and wanted to live there. Let's remember Dmytro Polozhenets..
Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we will remember Dmytro Polozhenets.
Lieutenant Dmytro Polozhenets was killed on March 31, 2022, while performing a combat mission at the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol, Donetsk region. The warrior was 25 years old.
Dmytro was born on July 19, 1996, in Yenakiieve, Donetsk region. In 2018, he graduated from the Azov State Technical University and worked at a metallurgical plant. In 2019, he entered the military department in Zaporizhzhia and received the rank of officer.
'Dmytro dreamed of being a military man, so he consciously went to study at the military department. He loved sports and went to the gym', - told his relatives.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Dmytro enlisted in the 109th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade.
'Dmytro loved Mariupol and dreamed of living there. Unfortunately, his dreams did not come true. He was calm, sociable, intelligent, - his relatives recall. - He could have become a new generation of Mariupol: educated, promising, but his life was cut short during the defense of the city of Mariupol.'
For more than a month, Dmytro, along with his comrades, defended Mariupol. He was the commander of the second rifle platoon.
'Communication with my brother was lost on March 31, 2022. He was at Azovstal. No further information. Months of waiting, months of searching among the prisoners and the dead yielded no results. The body was handed over from Mariupol in July 2022. Without documents and other belongings, by which he could be identified. And only on June 10, 2023, we were able to say goodbye to Dmytro. Glory to you, our Hero! You gave the most precious thing for a free Mariupol - your life', - wrote his second cousin Tetiana Tlustova.
Dmytro was buried at the cemetery in Yahotyn, in the Kyiv region.
At home, his parents and other relatives were waiting for the defender.
Honoring the Ukrainian fallen
'Glavkom' joins the minute of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died in the struggle for the Motherland. We remember those killed by the Russian invaders, light candles of memory, and bow our heads in sorrow during the nationwide minute of silence, honoring the bright memory of citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all military, civilians, and children, all who died in the struggle against Russian occupiers and as a result of the attack of enemy troops on Ukrainian towns and villages.
