The nuclear safety situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant is worsening, said Rafael Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency. According to him, this happened

after a drone strike today hit the road near the plant's territory
.

Once again, we see an escalation of threats to the nuclear safety and security of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. I remain extremely concerned and reiterate my call for maximum restraint from all sides and strict adherence to five specific principles established to protect the plant
, Grossi said.

The IAEA says they were informed that the explosives, which were allegedly carried by the drone, detonated just outside the plant's security zone. The collision site was near the cooling water ponds and about 100 meters from the Dnipro power line - the only line that supplies power to the ZNPP.

Ukrainian official institutions, including "Energoatom", have not yet commented on the situation.

Earlier, Russians claimed that Ukraine planned to strike the Kursk and Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plants. Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgiy Tikhiy refuted the statements of Russian propagandists.

At the same Time, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, warned that the Russian Federation might be preparing a nuclear provocation.

Their scenario to accuse us of terrorism and an attack on the Kursk NPP did not work, now they are lying about a "dirty bomb" and our possible provocation. This indicates that Russia may be preparing a terrorist attack
, Kovalenko believes.

As reported, Russian soldiers are preparing to defend the Kursk NPP due to the advance of Ukrainian Armed Forces.
