Massive Attack by Russia on December 23: Several Regions Left Without Electricity, Casualties Reported.
According to ТСН: Russian troops launched a massive attack on Ukraine, using strike drones and missiles of various types. The primary target of these hostilities was the energy infrastructure, which led to emergency power outages in several regions.
Attack on Sumy Region
During the night, Russian drones struck civilian objects in the Shostka and Konotop districts in the northern part of Sumy Region. There were no casualties, however, many populated areas experienced power outages. The mayor of Shostka, Mykola Noga, confirmed that important infrastructure was destroyed during the attack, leaving many subscribers without electricity and heating. Utility services and medical institutions switched to backup power supply.
Attack on Ivano-Frankivsk Region
Russian 'Shahed' drones struck Burshtyn in Ivano-Frankivsk Region, causing explosions and activity of air defense systems. Local residents reported power outages in several communities. Mayor Ruslan Martinkiv noted that the attacks may continue.
Attack on Cherkasy Region
Explosions were heard on the outskirts of Uman in Cherkasy Region, leading to emergency power outages.
Attack on Khmelnytskyi Region
Explosions occurred in Khmelnytskyi, where residents heard the sounds of drones. Following the attacks, power was lost in the cities of Khmelnytskyi and Ternopil. One person was killed as a result of the attack in Khmelnytskyi Region.
Attack on Energy Infrastructure
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported new attacks on energy infrastructure. Emergency power outages have been implemented in a number of regions, which will only be lifted after the situation is stabilized.
Emergency and Urgent Power Outages
Emergency power outages have been introduced in Kharkiv Region, where hourly outage schedules are in effect.
In Chernivtsi Region, urgent power outages have been implemented.
In Poltava Region, emergency outage schedules have been introduced.
In Cherkasy Region, emergency outage schedules have been implemented due to the consequences of the attacks.
In Chernihiv Region, several phases of emergency outage schedules have been introduced.
In Kyiv and the surrounding area, urgent outages have also been implemented.
In Dnipropetrovsk Region, urgent power outages are also in effect.
In Sumy Region, emergency outage schedules are in effect for three phases.
Khmelnytskyi Region has suffered damage to power lines, with energy workers working on restoring power supply.
In Ternopil Region, emergency outage schedules have been introduced.
In Zhytomyr Region, there are also emergency power outages.
Attack on Kyiv
In Kyiv, an explosion occurred, resulting in debris falling in a residential area. Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko confirmed reports of casualties. Initially, there were two injured, but later their number rose to five, including a 16-year-old child.
Attack on Kyiv Region
In the Vyshhorod district, an attack occurred, resulting in a fire. One woman was killed, and three others were injured by shrapnel and received medical assistance.
Attack on Rivne Region
A residential building was damaged in Rivne Region. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Local services are working on restoration.
Attack on Zhytomyr Region
In Zhytomyr Region, drone and missile strikes were recorded. Due to the attacks, several residential buildings and businesses were damaged. Five injured people have been reported, including one deceased child.
Attack on Odesa Region
In Odesa Region, Russian drones attacked, causing damage to energy and infrastructure. There is no information on casualties, but power supply interruptions have been recorded.
Attack on Lviv Region
An attack was carried out on a critical infrastructure facility in Lviv Region. The consequences of the attack are being clarified.
Attack on Chernihiv Region
During the night, drones were recorded hitting civilian infrastructure, and the consequences are being clarified.
These attacks indicate an escalation of military actions by Russia, whose goal is again to destabilize the energy system of Ukraine and cause harm to the civilian population. In conditions of constant threat, it is extremely important for Ukraine to strengthen its defense capabilities and ensure the safety of its citizens.
