Russia attacked Dnipropetrovsk region: one million people without heat and water

According to ТСН: In the evening before, the Russian army delivered a massive strike on the Dnipropetrovsk region. As a result of the attack, part of the region was left without electricity.

The head of the regional military administration, Vladyslav Haivanenko, reported that infrastructure facilities in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, and Pavlohrad districts were damaged due to shelling, and fires broke out.

“Part of the region remains without electricity. All necessary measures are being taken to restore energy supply to consumers”

Vice Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksii Kubela noted that repair work is ongoing in the region to restore heat and water supply for more than one million subscribers. According to him, centralized systems were partially restored in some settlements; on the left bank of the Dnipro, water with reduced pressure is observed. Social and critical infrastructure facilities have been switched to backup power.

Situation on the railway

Ukrzaliznytsia reported that after the attack in Zaporizhzhia, train services have been restored to the standard mode, but in Dnipro, 100% of backup heat locomotives are in operation. Train stations in Dnipro and the region are powered by generators.

However, in Ukrzaliznytsia, they warn of possible changes in the schedules. Delays are known:

  • №6008 Piatykhatky – Dnipro-Hostynnyi is running with a delay of 1 hour;

  • №7202 Kamianske – Synelnykove-1 is proceeding with a delay of more than 1 hour.

In the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia: suburban trains emphasized that, despite the difficult situation with energy supply, suburban movement in Dnipropetrovsk region has been preserved. Today, the region will be served by several suburban trains and Dnipro City Express trains:

  • №7202 Kamianske-Pas. – Synelnykove-1;

  • №7201 Synelnykove-1 – Dnipro-Hostynnyi.

Extension of holidays

In Dnipropetrovsk region, winter holidays have been extended due to large power outages. Authorities decided that students will not return to classes until January 9.

“Due to power outages in most settlements of the region, winter holidays have been extended in general secondary education institutions. They will last until January 9 inclusive”

It is noted that on January 7, the Russian Federation almost completely cut off electricity in two regions of Ukraine – Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia. The Russians again attacked the energy infrastructure, as a result of which Dnipro found itself in a complete blackout; all thermal power plants and substations in the region ceased operations.

As of the morning of January 8, restoration of networks continues in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Some parts of Dnipropetrovsk region have managed to restore water supply, while electricity supply has been restored in Zaporizhzhia, but the supply of heating and water to homes continues.
