We are ready: Zelensky responded to Putin.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, rejected the proposal of the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for a ceasefire until May 9.
This was stated during a conversation with journalists, reports 'Hvilya'.
It should be noted that the head of the Kremlin announced a so-called 'ceasefire' that was supposed to start at 00:00 on May 7 and end at 00:00 on May 11.
Zelensky called this proposal from Putin a 'theatrical production.' He advocates for a 30-day ceasefire.
'An unconditional ceasefire is a model proposed by the Americans. We support it. From this date or another - the sooner the better. Yes, let's try for 30 days. Why 30 days? Because it's impossible to agree on anything in three, five, or seven days', - said the president.
According to Zelensky, Putin is trying to create an atmosphere for Russia to exit isolation. The president insists on a 30-day ceasefire, as suggested by the United States.
Additionally, Zelensky stated that it is impossible to achieve complete silence without quality monitoring.
The president also spoke about a meeting with American leader Donald Trump, during which they discussed the imposition of strict sanctions against Russia.
'... I raised the issue of the U.S. sanctions steps. I won't go into details, but what he said to me was very strong', - added Zelensky.
Zelensky also noted that after the ceasefire, some countries may wish for Ukraine and Russia to be left alone, but Europe will be nearby.
We remind you that Zelensky announced the ratification of the economic agreement with the USA in the Council and new sanctions from the National Security and Defense Council.
