Up to One Million Illegally Relocated Russians in Crimea Ready to Flee: An Overview of the Current Situation.
Crimea’s Shifting Landscape
According to Novyny.live: Refat Chubarov, head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, has stated that roughly one million Russians were brought into Crimea illegally and are now prepared to evacuate the peninsula if danger escalates. According to him, Ukrainian forces successfully struck the Saki military airfield in Crimea, an event that could trigger further developments on the ground.
Chubarov pointed out that Russian occupiers and security personnel have begun leaving Crimea in large numbers, a clear sign of mounting tensions.
“They will flee Crimea,” he emphasized. He noted that opinions among the peninsula’s residents vary, but the focus remains on those loyal to Ukraine.
“Our people are those awaiting liberation, those who remain committed to the Ukrainian state,” Chubarov added.
Ongoing Pressure
The atmosphere in Crimea stays highly strained as Ukraine continues its military operations. The mass departure of Russian troops and security forces from the region may indicate a shift in military strategy and potential gains by Ukrainian forces.
Significantly, residents of the peninsula—including Crimean Tatars—continue to back the goal of Crimea’s liberation, demonstrating their resilience and allegiance to Ukraine despite the challenging circumstances.
