Serhiy Sternenko Appointed as UAV Advisor to Ukraine's Defense Minister, Highlighting Drones' Frontline Impact.
Expanding Collaboration with a Volunteer
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has announced an expanded collaboration with volunteer Serhiy Sternenko, who will now serve as an advisor on the deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the front lines. This appointment follows a recent discussion between Fedorov and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, where they addressed key areas for improving military effectiveness. The move underscores Ukraine's continued reliance on innovative tactics and civilian expertise in its defense strategy.
On January 21, Mykhailo Fedorov announced Sternenko's new role via his Telegram channel. According to Fedorov, the volunteer's experience will help implement a shared vision for enhancing the performance of drone units. The key focus areas for the newly appointed advisor include:
- providing essential drone equipment to units;
- streamlining supply chains;
- conducting data analysis;
- improving operational efficiency.
The Critical Role of Drones in Military Operations
It is notable that approximately 50 out of the 400 drone units operating in Ukraine are responsible for 70% of all enemy losses. This statistic highlights the decisive importance of UAVs in modern combat and the pivotal role they play in securing battlefield success.
“The appointment of Serhiy Sternenko as an advisor on UAV matters reflects the growing significance of drones in Ukraine's military operations.” - Mykhailo Fedorov
Given that drones already account for a substantial portion of enemy target eliminations, boosting their effectiveness could directly influence combat outcomes. This partnership between the Ministry of Defense and volunteer initiatives also emphasizes the vital role of civil society in supporting the Armed Forces during this critical period.
