Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov emphasized that this initiative aims to boost morale and provide greater support to troops operating in active combat zones. This move comes amid ongoing efforts to sustain troop readiness and motivation during the protracted conflict with Russia.

The base monthly salary for a Ukrainian infantry soldier stands at roughly $444. On top of this, personnel receive an additional daily allowance of approximately $222 for each day spent on the front lines. For carrying out high-risk strike and reconnaissance operations, a soldier earns around $444 per day. The highest daily rate, about $889, is reserved for those involved in direct assault missions. As a result, a Ukrainian service member who spends 21 days in combat positions and participates in an assault can expect total compensation ranging from $6,000 to $6,500.

How Ukraine's Military Pay Compares Internationally

For context, base pay in the U.S. military ranges from $2,634 to $3,197 per month, with maximum earnings reaching approximately $5,000–$5,500. In the British Army, base salaries fall between roughly $1,820 and $2,650 monthly, with an operational supplement of about $37 per day. Members of the French Foreign Legion earn between $2,150 and $3,800 per month, topping out at $3,800. Polish soldiers receive around $1,850 per month.

This comparison highlights that Ukrainian infantry troops are among the highest-paid globally, especially during active combat. The Ukrainian compensation package of $6,000 to $6,500 provides substantial financial backing for personnel facing elevated risks on the battlefield.
