Ukrainian Citizens Released in Budapest
According to UATV: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sibiha has confirmed the successful release and repatriation of seven Ukrainian citizens who had been detained in Budapest. The detentions occurred on March 6. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Ukrainian diplomacy to assist its citizens abroad, particularly during a period of heightened regional tension.
'I have already reported to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that we have managed to secure the release of seven Ukrainian citizens who were being held in Budapest,' stated Andrii Sibiha.
According to the minister, the freed individuals are now safe and have successfully crossed back into Ukraine. 'They are now in safety and have crossed the Ukrainian border. Our consuls provided them with the necessary assistance,' he added.
Ukraine-Hungary Cooperation
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was also involved in resolving this matter. The release of the Ukrainian nationals marks a significant event for both nations, demonstrating the effectiveness of Ukrainian diplomatic efforts to protect its citizens overseas.
