Ukraine's Defense Ministry to Withhold Bonuses for Desertion and Disobedience.
New Rules for Cancelling Military Bonuses
According to Novyny.live: The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has announced new regulations under which service members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine may lose their right to receive a monthly performance bonus. This measure is part of a broader effort to strengthen discipline within the military ranks during a time of war. The bonus will now be withheld in cases including unauthorized absence from a unit, refusal to follow a commander's orders, and several other serious infractions.
According to the ministry, this additional payment is contingent on the successful completion of assigned tasks over a month. However, personnel will be denied this financial incentive if they are found guilty of desertion, voluntary surrender as prisoners of war, removal from duty, confinement to a guardhouse, or the consumption of alcohol, narcotics, or psychotropic substances.
Specific Violations Leading to Bonus Forfeiture
Specifically, the supplementary bonus will not be awarded to service members who:
- leave their unit without authorization,
- desert,
- voluntarily surrender to enemy forces,
- are suspended from their official duties,
- serve punishment in a guardhouse,
- consume alcohol, narcotics, or psychotropic substances.
These changes reflect the Ministry of Defense's new approach to enforcing discipline and ensuring the fulfillment of military duties within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The implementation of these rules is a clear signal of the ministry's intent to bolster accountability and operational readiness. The outcomes of this policy may significantly influence troop motivation, unit morale, and the overall effectiveness of military operations.
