According to ТСН: U.S. President Donald Trump is trying to force Ukraine to capitulate in a very short time frame, which has sparked lively discussions among analysts. Political scientist Valery Dimov believes that this situation resembles previous statements about 'Kyiv in three days'. Now the focus is on ending the war in two to three weeks, and Trump essentially seeks Ukraine's capitulation within a conditional three days.

Change of deadlines

Dimov emphasized that the deadlines mentioned by the American president are constantly changing and have not been taken seriously for a long time. He recalled the 'Easter' dates, the possible meeting of Trump with Xi Jinping in Beijing, and many other deadlines that did not materialize.

"At one time they were talking about some 'Easter' dates, then — that he would meet with Xi Jinping in Beijing and together with Putin 'divide the world'. Then new dates appeared, including before Thanksgiving. This resembles the first Chinese warning — Trump’s deadlines that no one takes into account anymore. Therefore, there are no chances here," emphasized the political scientist.

Capitulation as a condition for peace

According to the expert, the situation where capitulation is presented as a condition for ending the war is unacceptable. Dimov believes this is an unprecedented case.

"Now there are attempts to put capitulation before the cessation of hostilities. I do not know of such precedents. Putin is effectively demanding that Ukraine sign all his maximalist points right away," he explained.

Bargaining over demands

The expert also noted that further negotiations boil down to attempts to interpret these demands concerning Ukraine.

"We seem to have to squeeze out an interpretation of these points. In reality, Trump wants to 'sell' this first to us, and then — to his citizens, in order to settle the internal agenda," Dimov said.

Support from Americans

The political scientist pointed out that the majority of Americans support Ukraine in its struggle against Russia.

"Most U.S. citizens are against America stopping its support for Ukraine. They want Ukraine to defeat Russia in this war initiated by Russia. Therefore, I see no room for compromise," he stated.

Position on negotiations

Dimov concluded his reflections with a well-known saying by Golda Meir, adding that when the enemy seeks your destruction, it is impossible to negotiate.

"If the enemy wants to destroy you, while you want to live, then you have no possibility to negotiate with them," summarized the political scientist.

Notably, earlier one of the members of the U.S. House of Representatives compared Trump's attempts to force Ukraine to give up part of its territory to the 'appeasement' of Hitler before World War II. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also emphasized that U.S. proposals regarding Donetsk do not meet Ukraine's national interests.

This situation continues to raise considerable concern among the international community, as such demands could negatively impact not only Ukraine's security but also stability in Europe as a whole. Observers speculate how these events may affect future international relations and the course of the war.
