Life in Bali Is Cheaper Than Kyiv, Says Miroshnychenko – Except for One Big Expense.
The Miroshnychenko Family's Living Costs in Bali
According to TSN.ua: According to Timur Miroshnychenko, his family spends less on daily life in Bali than they did in Kyiv, though airfare remains a notable exception. The trip, which began in mid-February, lasted a month and a half, with return flights booked for early April. Miroshnychenko, who recently celebrated his 40th birthday, emphasized that transportation is by far their largest expense.
Honestly, the flight is the priciest part. Everything else costs less than it does in Kyiv.

He also touched on the emotional side of their journey: 'Of course we miss home. I miss them terribly.' These remarks highlight that despite the financial benefits of living in Bali, the family still feels a strong sense of nostalgia for their homeland. For many Ukrainians navigating wartime and economic hardship, such destinations offer a way to reduce living costs—but the emotional toll of being away from home remains significant.
What This Means for Ukrainians
The Miroshnychenkos' experience reflects a growing trend among Ukrainians seeking more affordable living options abroad amid conflict and financial instability. Traveling to countries with lower costs of living is becoming a practical adaptation strategy. At the same time, this story underscores how even the most favorable circumstances abroad cannot replace the emotional connection to one's home country.
