Moldova introduces mandatory identification for purchasing SIM cards.
According to inkorr.com: Daniela Mısail-Niçitin, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Moldova, announced that now it will be mandatory to present a personal document to obtain SIM cards in the country. This decision was made jointly with the police and the Information Technology Service to reduce the level of crime.
“We are working on a project that involves selling SIM cards only with a personal document and storing data for five years. This is aimed at preventing crimes, especially in the online environment,” said Daniela Mısail-Niçitin.
In addition, in Moldova, the HaiTV application and website have been blocked due to broadcasting banned Russian and Belarusian channels. Government spokesperson Daniel Vode reported that this decision was made in response to a request from the Broadcasting Council.
