A fighter from Kirovohrad region, Roman Dyachuk, spent a little over three years in Russian captivity. During this Time, he not only survived but also preserved a symbol of his country - a coin with the coat of arms of Ukraine. On April 19, Roman was released and returned home. His mother, Inna Dyachuk, reported this in an interview with 'Suspilne'.
At this moment, Roman is undergoing rehabilitation after captivity. He is being examined and treated. He says it was very difficult psychologically in captivity, but he did not lose hope, knowing that his family was waiting for his return. Roman is very upset about the death of his older brother, but he is confident that he died for freedom and peace in Ukraine.
Roman's mother says that he is a patriot. Even in captivity, he shouted 'Glory to Ukraine', for which he was punished and beaten. He kept a coin with the coat of arms of Ukraine there, which was a piece of his country for him.
The family is eagerly awaiting the meeting with Roman and is happy. They plan to greet him as a hero. On April 19, many other Ukrainian soldiers returned from captivity. Among them are defenders from various parts of the Ukrainian army. Many young soldiers born after 2000 will see their relatives for the first time.
