Changes in M&S stores

According to The Sun: M&S has made changes to its stores that offer food to order, and some customers have expressed dissatisfaction.

The network announced that more than 500 stores are now offering the option to order ready-made cakes, main dishes, and festive food ahead of the holidays.

Customers can choose food to order on M&S's website.

Orders can be collected on December 22, 23, or 24.

Booking slots has been possible since September 23, with customers required to pay a £50 deposit.

However, many customers were disappointed to learn that their local store no longer offers this service.

One customer in X wrote: “Gutted you’ve omitted Dumbarton store from Christmas food orders this year. That’s a large area of people you’re turning away.”
Another shopper asked: “Is there an issue with the Dumbarton store as it is not showing as available to book a slot.”

A representative from M&S confirmed that two stores, including the one in Dumbarton, no longer provide this service.

They stated: “We are not offering Christmas Food to Order at our Dumbarton store this year due to space restrictions and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Customers can book a slot at another M&S store through their website.

Some shoppers are unaware that M&S has not offered food orders for New Year for several years now.

One customer noted: “Disappointed, no New Year collection / delivery dates.”
Another added: “There are no New Year collection dates.”

However, standard sets with sandwiches, sushi rolls, and cakes will be available to order on December 30 and 31.

M&S also plans to provide information on the expiry dates of all products during their Christmas food ordering program.

Supermarkets during Christmas

With Christmas approaching, many supermarkets are giving customers the chance to prepare in advance. For example, Tesco confirmed it will provide thousands of additional slots in the two weeks leading up to the holiday.

Tesco slots will open for all customers, including those using the off-peak delivery plan, at 6:00 AM on November 11.

Customers subscribed to an annual delivery plan will be able to get a slot even earlier.

Asda announced that from October 14, delivery cardholders will be able to book slots for holiday shopping.

For all other customers, the first booking opportunity will be on October 20, when Asda announced that over a million slots for delivery and order fulfillment will be available in the week before Christmas.

Customers will be able to make changes or additions to their baskets until 11:00 PM the night before delivery or collection.

M&S customers may face difficulties as not all stores are now available for orders, which has affected their ability to prepare for the holidays. The company is striving to ensure the highest level of service, but customer dissatisfaction indicates a need for improvements. The situation regarding product availability during the holidays also underscores the importance of paying attention to customer needs during such busy times.
