According to ТСН: Pet owners know that when they're feeling down, simply petting a cat is enough to chase the blues away.
Scientific explanation of the benefits of interacting with cats
Biologist and neurobiologist Petro Chornomorets explained why petting cats brings not only pleasure but also benefits to us.
“When we pet a cat or see a cat, we release oxytocin. It excites us in some ways, while in others it calms us down. So, there can be variations. But, of course, if we shift our focus to a cat, it might indicate that we have calmed down and suppressed a certain emotion at that moment,” he explained.
Be careful with care mistakes
Earlier, veterinarians warned cat owners about common mistakes in care that can seriously harm the animals' health.
Petting cats not only improves our well-being but can also have scientifically justified benefits for our emotional state. At the same time, it is important to remember proper care for the animals to keep them healthy and happy. This will help avoid common mistakes that can negatively affect their lives.
