The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine sharply condemned the use of images of destruction in Ukraine on the pre-election banners of the ruling party of Georgia "Georgian Dream".

Photographs of destroyed buildings and churches as a result of a Russian strike in Mariupol appeared on the advertising posters of "Georgian Dream". The caption "No to war!" and crossed-out numbers of opposition Georgian parties are present.

"We consider it unacceptable to use images of the terrible consequences of Russia's ruthless war against Ukraine, the suffering and blood of thousands of innocent people, and the destruction of church shrines in political advertising," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said.

The Ministry called on the government of Georgia and the country's political forces "to refrain from using the topic of the aggressive war against Ukraine and its citizens in domestic political struggle".

Georgia's President Salome Zourabichvili also criticized the design of the "Georgian Dream" banners, calling them "shameful" and "offensive".

Parliamentary elections in Georgia are scheduled for October 26. Ukraine hopes that they will be held "in a peaceful and democratic manner".
