The Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office reported that the woman is suspected of grossly failing to fulfill her duties of care for the children, which led to their death. As a result of the fire in the house, four siblings aged 4 to 9 years and their grandfather died. One person survived - a 16-year-old boy.

According to the investigation, the children's mother left them in the care of her sick father and the older brother. However, she did not return from her affairs. As a result, the children were left unattended and died in the fire.

The Kharkiv prosecutor's office stated that the woman, failing to fulfill her parental duties, acted recklessly and indifferently to the fate of her sons. In this regard, she has been charged.

Also, after this incident, the Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovich announced a check of the institutions where children live, with the aim of identifying facts of violence and violations of their rights.
