Bridge Over Dniester River Restored in Odesa Region After Russian Drone Strike.
Mayaky Bridge Back in Operation
According to Novyny.live: Repair work on the bridge crossing the Dniester River in the village of Mayaky, Odesa region, has been completed. The structure was damaged in late 2025 during a Russian drone attack and has now resumed normal operations—a critical step for restoring transport links in the area.
The strike on December 19, 2025, tragically killed a young woman who was crossing the bridge with her children. This devastating event deeply shook the local community. In the aftermath, residents rushed to withdraw cash from ATMs, pulling out nearly 100 million hryvnias in total.
All necessary emergency repairs were carried out to bring the bridge back to full functionality. Local authorities and state support made this possible. According to Oleksiy Kuleba,
“ensuring stable transportation to the southwestern part of Odesa region is one of the government's key priorities for cargo logistics and citizen mobility.”
Why the Bridge Restoration Matters
Reopening the bridge improves access to the region and enhances road safety. Local residents hope similar initiatives will follow in other affected areas.
The restoration of the Mayaky bridge not only reestablishes transport connections but also stands as a symbol of Ukraine's infrastructure recovery following hostilities. It represents a crucial move toward stabilizing life in a region where conflict-affected communities need support to return to normalcy. The situation surrounding this bridge underscores the need for continued infrastructure restoration in other damaged areas, which could have a positive impact on the broader economic situation.
