Military man in Odesa threatened acquaintance with a knife: what sentence was passed by the court.
In the Odesa region, a serviceman almost turned a household quarrel into a criminal drama by grabbing a knife and threatening to kill an acquaintance out of sudden anger. The court issued a verdict against the accused.
The incident occurred in the morning of May 16 in the city of Artsyz. The soldier quarreled with an acquaintance in the kitchen of the apartment, after which he began threatening him with a knife, forcing the man to jump out of the window to avoid injury. Physical injuries were avoided.
Punishment for knife attack
In court, the accused admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. The prosecution confirmed that he had no prior legal troubles and was not registered in psychiatric or narcological institutions. However, the command of the military unit characterized him negatively.
The court sentenced the man to one year of restriction of liberty for making threats to kill, but due to his remorse, the sentence was softened. He was placed on probation with mandatory registration with the probation authority and a ban on leaving the country without permission.
As a result of the quarrel in the kitchen, a criminal drama unfolded among acquaintances in the Odesa region, but thanks to the quick response, a potentially dangerous situation was resolved. The guilty party was punished by the court, but due to his remorse, the sentence was softened, hoping that such an incident would not happen again in the future.
