New stops in Moldova
According to official information, train No. 99/100 Kyiv–Bucharest now stops in three Moldovan cities:
-
Ungheni
-
Bălți-Oraș
-
Ocnița
The train also crosses the border in the towns of Velcini and Ungheni, where border control takes place.
"When planning your trip, consider the time required for checks. Passengers from non-EU countries need a transit visa to travel through Moldova. For Ukrainians - no," said 'Ukrzaliznytsia'.
How to purchase tickets
Tickets for the new route can be purchased in several ways:
-
through the official 'Ukrzaliznytsia' website;
-
via the mobile application;
-
or at railway ticket offices.
The route expansion allows passengers from northern and central regions of Ukraine to conveniently reach Moldova and Romania without transfers.
The international flight Kyiv–Bucharest was resumed in 2023 after a delay caused by the war. This route is in stable demand among travelers heading to Europe. The addition of Moldovan stops is another step towards the development of cross-border railway infrastructure, which Ukraine is gradually restoring and expanding after the full-scale invasion.
This route expansion promotes the development of tourist links between Ukraine and Moldova, facilitating the movement of citizens of both countries. It also highlights Ukraine's efforts to create convenient transport solutions in the face of modern challenges.
