Intensive battles continue near the state border in Sumy region: details from Syrskiy.

Hostilities are ongoing in the Sumy region, not far from the state border, reported the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskiy.

General Syrskiy also noted that fighting is taking place on the territory of Russia.

Russian troops are trying to drive us out of the territory of Kursk and seize the border areas of Sumy region. But our units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine inflicted defeats on the enemy with their active actions and disrupted their offensive - said the general.

Recently, the number of attacks on Sumy and the Sumy region has significantly increased. This has been made possible by new types of drones, strike drones, multiple launch rocket systems, and artillery. Russians are urging civilians to leave Sumy and flee the city.

On April 18, three Russian drones attacked an industrial facility in Sumy, resulting in one man's death. According to local officials, the company producing belts sustained significant damage. One of the workers sought medical assistance.
