According to TSN.ua: The Chortkiv District Court of Ternopil Oblast has convicted a man for a series of thefts from a store, where he failed to pay for goods totaling 16,847 hryvnias and 48 kopiykas. This case highlights the ongoing challenge of retail crime in Ukraine, which impacts businesses of all sizes.
Court documents detail that the thefts occurred in three separate incidents:
- On December 12, he stole goods worth 4,477 hryvnias.
- He committed a second theft on December 19, taking items valued at 3,900 hryvnias.
- The final incident took place on December 23, with stolen goods amounting to 8,469 hryvnias.
This brought the total losses inflicted on the store to 16,847 hryvnias and 48 kopiykas.
The court imposed a fine of 25,500 hryvnias on the man. He is also required to pay nearly 5,000 hryvnias to cover the costs of court-ordered expert examinations.
Stolen Goods Recovered
The assortment of stolen items was eclectic, including:
- six glass relief champagne flutes,
- sets of toothpaste and toothbrushes,
- laundry conditioner,
- micellar water,
- food wrap,
- and Christmas decorations.
This case underscores the persistent issue of shoplifting and the need for robust security measures in retail environments.
