This week, temperatures of 44 degrees are forecasted in many cities across Greece. In response, the country's authorities have enacted new rules for workers. This is reported by the Daily Express.
It is reported that today, July 21, the Ministry of Labor in Greece has published a number of regulations for workers, which require mandatory work stoppages and remote work during peak heat hours in certain regions of the country. Specifically, from 12:00 to 17:00, outdoor work will be prohibited. This applies to construction projects, construction sites, and deliveries during these hours.
The authorities are asking companies to ensure remote work for employees wherever possible. Those who ignore the rules will face fines of 2,000 euros for each worker.
The new regulations apply to Evros (Sufli area), Serres (Serres area), Larisa (Larisa area), Viotia (Aliartos area), Chalkidiki (Poligirou area), Imatia (Veria area), as well as the Ionian Islands, the eastern part of Rhodes, and coastal areas of Corinth, Argolida, Arcadia, Laconia, and Messinia.
