A new person has appeared in the military

The Security Service of Ukraine has reported a new suspicion against a serviceman who was detained for diversions on the railway on the orders of Russian intelligence. This was announced in the Vinnytsia region by the SBU.

In October 2024, the Security Service detained an agent of the Russian military intelligence, who was responsible for enemy airstrikes in Vinnytsia and Sumy regions. According to the investigation's data, the perpetrator turned out to be a 23-year-old contractor from one of the military units, who illegally left his place of service last year.

In search of quick money, he began looking for work in Telegram channels and ended up meeting a personnel officer from the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. This intelligence officer offered the deserter 'easy money' in exchange for cooperation - as stated in the report.

On behalf of the Russian intelligence, the young man tried to track the positions of the air defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Vinnytsia, photograph military objects, and mark their coordinates on electronic maps to report to his Russian curator. He also agreed to set fire to relay cabinets to disrupt the movement of trains of Ukrzaliznytsia, through which weapons and equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine are delivered to the front.

When the target was detected and agreed upon with the 'curator', he was supposed to burn it using flammable substances. The man attempted to set fire to one of the relay cabinets in Vinnytsia several times and then filmed these events on his mobile phone for reporting to his Russian curator.

Based on new evidence, investigators from the Security Service have announced charges against the traitor under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • Part 2 of Article 111 (treason committed under martial law);
  • Part 2 of Article 113 (diversion committed under martial law);
  • Part 4 of Article 408 (desertion committed under martial law).

The offender is currently behind bars. He faces life imprisonment with property confiscation.

It should be noted that starting from 2024, the Security Service, together with the National Police, has uncovered 497 individuals who set fire to military personnel's vehicles, Ukrzaliznytsia facilities, as well as manufactured homemade explosive devices for terrorist acts.

Also, in the Kharkiv region, the Security Service detained two agents of the Russian military intelligence. A man and a woman acted together and pretended to be volunteers.
