Incident During Military Draft in Volyn Region

According to TSN.ua: A 60-year-old man fishing on a lake suffered a broken bone with displacement and a puncture wound to one of his fingers after personnel from a local Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TCC and SP) used excessive force during a draft attempt in Volyn Oblast. The victim, who is not subject to mobilization, was approached while fishing and sustained injuries requiring medical attention.

According to reports, military officials claim only pepper spray was used during the incident. However, during the attempted detention, the victim struck a TCC and SP serviceman. The event has sparked significant public outcry, and the case has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations (URPTI).

Ongoing Investigation and Growing Tensions in Ukraine

The pre-trial investigation is currently underway. The head of the Kovel District TCC and SP group has been charged under Part 1 of Article 122 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. A court has imposed house arrest as a preventive measure. Separately, police in Odesa are reviewing reports of alleged forced mobilization, reflecting rising tensions amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

This incident highlights the complexities of Ukraine's mobilization process, especially during a protracted war.

Increasing friction between military authorities and civilians could lead to further protests or clashes if mobilization issues are not adequately addressed. Investigations into forced draft cases in other regions suggest systemic problems that require urgent state intervention.
