Drunken Recruitment Officer Attempts to Mobilize Bridge Workers in Zakarpattia.
Scandal Involving Recruitment Center Chief in Zakarpattia
According to Novyny.live: On February 28, Oleksiy Travov, the head of the Irshava Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center, arrived on Shevchenko Street in Irshava while intoxicated and attempted to mobilize workers who were repairing a bridge, leading to a conflict and a police call. He reportedly arrived at the scene armed with automatic weapons.
According to reports, one of the workers who witnessed the event called the police emergency number 102.
"The call was officially registered. Police arrived at the scene. However, the intoxicated head of the Irshava Recruitment Center fled before the police arrived,"stated Vitaliy Hlahola. Following the incident, police were again called to the scene on February 29, and on March 1, representatives of the Military Law Enforcement Service arrived in Irshava.
Oleksiy Travov refused to undergo an alcohol intoxication test and is currently hospitalized. In connection with the incident, the Zakarpattia Regional Recruitment Center has initiated an official investigation. Representatives of the regional center stated:
"The position of the leadership is clear and consistent: decisions will be made solely based on the results of the investigation and in accordance with the requirements of current Ukrainian legislation."
Consequences of the Incident
This case is the latest in a series of scandals involving Ukraine's territorial recruitment centers. Such incidents cause public concern and raise doubts about the professional responsibility of military structure representatives. These centers are responsible for conscription and mobilization, making their conduct a sensitive public issue.
The situation with the Irshava recruitment chief underscores the critical need for oversight of military structures, especially during wartime. The official investigation that has been launched will be a crucial step in clarifying the circumstances and taking appropriate measures. Simultaneously, incidents like this undermine public trust in military organizations and can have negative consequences for the reputation of state structures responsible for mobilization and defense.
