Tuesday is the worst day of the week: how to overcome depression.
Tuesday is the most depressing day of the week
According to inkorr.com: Specialists from the London School of Economics have found that Tuesday is the hardest day of the week. They analyzed the happiness levels of over 22 thousand people, and the results confirm that happiness is lowest on this day. This is due to the absence of weekends and the fatigue that usually starts to be felt around 15:00. People often eagerly await the weekends, believing that true life is only possible on free days, which leads to a disconnect between obligations and personal comfort.
Psychologist Maria Kordon offers several tips for improving mood and restoring energy. Among them are setting aside one evening for spontaneous activities, creating a 'list of joys', letting go of strict rules, and practicing mindfulness. These strategies can help change attitudes towards workdays and find harmony even on Tuesday, which is considered the most depressing day of the week.
- Free up one evening for spontaneity. A walk along a new route or visiting an unfamiliar café can lift your spirits.
- Create a 'list of joys'. Write down small activities that bring pleasure without tying them to time or outcome.
- Let go of strict rules. Small pleasures - dessert in the middle of the week or watching a movie - should not have to wait for the weekend.
- Practice mindfulness. Light a candle during your evening ritual, pay attention to the smell of coffee or the sounds during a walk.
A shortened work week as a global trend
The shortened work week is becoming a global trend thanks to successful pilot programs in Spain, the UK, and Portugal. These programs have shown that four working days do not reduce productivity; on the contrary, they improve the balance between work and personal life. Cities like Tokyo and Valencia continue to experiment with various models, while countries such as Belgium and the UAE have already implemented a 4-day work week for public servants.
Psychological research confirms that Tuesday can indeed be the most pessimistic day of the week for many people. The absence of weekends and mid-week often creates a negative mood. However, canceling strict rules, spontaneous activities, and attention to one's emotions can help change attitudes towards workdays and find a balance between obligations and rest.
