Born in Mariupol and Dreamed of Becoming a Sailor. Remembering Artur Katash.
Every day at 9 am, Ukrainians honor the memory of all whose lives were taken by the Russo-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Artur Katash.
On November 28, 2024, defending his native Ukraine from occupiers, 25-year-old defender Artur Katash (call sign Arti) fell. This was reported by the Lviv City Council.
Artur Katash was born on July 1, 1999, in the city of Mariupol, Donetsk region. He studied at the municipal institution "Mariupol Secondary School I-III degrees No.10 of Mariupol City Council of Donetsk region". At school, he was an extremely energetic child, practiced jiu-jitsu, and actively participated in local competitions.
From childhood, he aspired to become a sailor, so even while studying at school, he enrolled in preparatory courses at the Azov Maritime Institute of the National University "Odessa Maritime Academy". Subsequently, he worked for more than a year as a sushi chef at the establishment "Bluefin".
He had an exceptional talent for drawing and was passionate about carving in his free Time. According to relatives, there was much to learn from him: absolute honesty, kindness, and boundless love; dignity and justice were the fundamental principles for him. He advised his loved ones to "never be upset and always be confident in themselves".
With the onset of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he moved to the Lviv region. After undergoing combat training in the Zaporizhzhia region, he voluntarily joined the ranks of the 12th Special Purpose Brigade "Azov." He performed combat missions in the "hot" spots of the front.
The defender's funeral service took place on November 5 at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Lviv. The defender was buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.
Artur Katash is survived by his mother, two brothers, a sister, and a fiancée.
"Glavkom" joins the minute of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died fighting for the Motherland. We remember those who died at the hands of Russian invaders, light candles of memory, and bow our heads in sorrow during the national minute of silence, honoring the bright memory of the citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all the military, civilians, and children, all those who died fighting against the Russian occupiers and as a result of the enemy troops' attacks on Ukrainian cities and villages.
