Discovery of a secret nuclear base in Greenland

A group of scientists from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) discovered a hidden US nuclear base in Greenland during tests of a new radar system. This base had existed for over 50 years, buried under ice. This discovery was made possible by the latest equipment that can penetrate through ice.

According to WSJ, Camp Century was designed to house 600 medium-range ballistic missiles to deter the Soviet Union. The project was closed in 1967 due to ice problems that made safe missile launches impossible. After the base was closed, the American military left a significant portion of the infrastructure in place.
