A female government employee was arrested for extorting $11,000 in exchange for influencing disability assessment procedures and securing a military draft deferment for a liable individual. According to reports, the arrest took place on July 20, 2026. She acted in collusion with a lawyer who was also implicated in the scheme.

The extortion payment was linked to a promise to sway the head of an expert evaluation team. The official planned to negotiate with the leadership of the mobilization department at a district Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TCC). Based on these facts, she has been informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code.

Legal Consequences and Corruption Concerns

A court has ruled that the detained official be held in pre-trial custody with the option of posting a bail of 1 million Ukrainian hryvnias. If convicted, she faces up to eight years in prison along with confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
