Memorial Day for Those Who Died in Captivity

According to UATV: This annual observance serves as a solemn reminder of the suffering endured by Ukrainian prisoners. According to Dmytro Lubinets, at least 406 Ukrainians have died while in Russian custody. He also provided the following statement:

“Ukraine has documented 695 forms of torture used by Russia. And these are only the crimes that have been recorded.” — Dmytro Lubinets

The tragedy of Olenivka has become emblematic of these atrocities. On the night of July 28–29, 2022, Russian forces bombarded the Volnovakha penal colony, killing at least 53 people and wounding over 130, according to preliminary data.

In addition, more than 300 Ukrainian soldiers and civilians have perished in Russian captivity, and the circumstances surrounding 311 of these deaths are currently under investigation.
