Navalny poisoned? Journalists and documents

Journalists gained access to hundreds of documents related to the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Among them, information pointing to a possible poisoning of the opposition leader was found. This was reported by The Insider.

According to the publication, two versions of the decision to refuse to initiate a criminal case were found among the documents. Notably, from the second and final version, the words about Navalny having stomach pains, vomiting, and convulsions before his death were removed.

The same information is contained in another document – a description of 'seized objects', which mentions 'samples of vomit'.

Judging by the text of the document, they were sent for examination, although neither the examination itself nor the fact that Navalny had vomited had been previously reported.

The documents were commented on by intensive care physician Alexander Polupan, who treated Navalny after the Novichok poisoning in August 2020 in Omsk. He stated that the symptoms indicate poisoning by an organophosphorus compound (which also includes Novichok itself).

According to the journalists of the publication, these documents confirm the words of Yulia Navalnaya, who previously stated that in the last minutes before his death, Navalny indeed complained of severe stomach pain.

It should be recalled that Navalny died on February 16 in the 'Polar Wolf' corrective colony in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. He felt unwell after a walk and almost immediately lost consciousness. Doctors could not help him.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Putin killed the opposition leader. Navalny's team confirmed his death and stated that it was a murder.

Canada imposed sanctions against 13 high-ranking officials, investigators, penitentiary service, and police officers of the Russian Federation. In a statement on the Canadian government website, it was mentioned that all the individuals under the restrictions were involved in the brutal treatment and death of politician Alexei Navalny.

The new U.S. sanctions package also included employees of the Russian penitentiary system, according to a memo released by the State Department amid the expansion of restrictive measures. According to the document, restrictions were imposed on two employees of corrective colony No. 3, where opposition leader Alexei Navalny died.
